An Activity for the Young at Heart

In 2018, we profiled an initiative that brought together the children from the JIAS (Jewish Immigrant Aid Services) Toronto CNC and the seniors from the B’Nai Brith Outreach program for an intergenerational art project.  Kelly Wood, CNC Supervisor let us know that they held another successful and fun event—this time the young and old blew bubbles and danced together.  The children laughed and caught bubbles and one senior smiled and said she couldn’t remember the last time she blew bubbles!

Kelly and her teaching partner are also keeping things interesting within their class. They created a Pinterest site to share creative projects for toddler classrooms. Some ideas are original and others are borrowed from different sources. Kim Faber, CMAS consultant, who visited the program recently, praises their work: “They do a great job of using ‘loose parts’ and bringing the natural environment into the classroom.”
