CNC in Action: Making Connections

Six months ago, when Mariana Schenkel started working with the preschool group, she noticed they couldn’t sit still for five minutes during circle time. The children were not connecting with the planned activities and were restless. By creating handmade activities and storyboards filled with pictures, children and parents are making the connections to help them thrive.

Where to get help as a new immigrant in Bradford, Simcoe County

In Ontario, Simcoe County several organizations are trying to get the word out about some of the local resources offered for newcomers and employers. Bradford Immigrant and Community Services has long provided a welcome centre for newcomers and programs, such as Getting Ready for Kindergarten, and SCAMP, a free summer camp in July that helps children whose first language is not English prepare for school.
