Occasional Child Care Support

What is Occasional Child Care (OCC)?

Newcomer parents using Immigrant Settlement Adaptation Programs (ISAP) may need on-site care and supervision for their young children. That’s where OCC comes in!
For the past three years, Occasional Child Care has supported the goal of serving as many newcomer families with young children as possible by removing a major barrier to their successful integration into Canadian society: childcare.
Funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, OCC allows newcomers to access settlement services knowing that their children are in a secure and healthy environment.

There are three types of Occasional Child Care to suit your specific needs. Provided days, evenings or weekends, these include:

  • Permanent OCC – with a regular, dedicated child care space in the facility;
  • Shared OCC – making use of spaces also used by others and for other purposes;
  • Mobile OCC – using various approved locations in the community.

How does CMAS help?
